In partnership with the SPCA of Texas, NewsRadio 1080 KRLD brings you 'Adoptable Pet Pals,' a weekly feature to introduce you to animals that are ready for adoption.

KRLD's Kristin Diaz along with Maura Davies from the SPCA highlights the critical need for adopting families at local animal shelters by showcasing an "Adoptable Pet Pal" that has stayed at the shelter too long.

Padfoot is a 3-year-old female Shepherd mix who is as sweet and gentle as she is beautiful. She walks well on her leash, having learned while she has been with the SPCA of Texas (since August of 2022). And she knows sit and probably shake hands. One thing is for certain, she will steal your heart with her fun and yet totally cool vibe. Please bring any current dogs in your home and any human kids out to meet her to make sure everyone is a great fit. She’ll be waiting for you at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center at 2400 Lone Star Drive in Dallas any day between the hours of noon and 6 p.m

Meet Chance!

Meet Chance! This is one jovial little fellow waiting for a forever home with the SPCA of Texas. Chance is a Hound mix who is going on five years of age and weighs in at 89 pounds. He has a nice black-over-tan coat with a little bit of white underneath and big brown puppy dog eyes. Chance has a lot of energy and loves to get out into the yard and get those zoomies going. Chance seems to get along with just about everybody, but due to his size and energy level we recommend all kids be at least 7 years of age. He is at the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center so a prior appointment is necessary to meet him.

Meet Charm!

Meet Charm! He’s a charmer for sure. Charm is a big guy, but he’s got a heart of gold. He’s a 100-pound German Shepherd mix who is over 12 years old now. He has the regal coat of his breed, and his majestic brown eyes just finishes off a totally classic look. Charm came in to the SPCA of Texas as a stray, so not much is known about his previous life. While Charm more than likely was quite the athlete in his younger days, today he is more fond of naps and snuggling. Charm is available as a foster-to-adopt as he does have some joint problems which will require treatment which the SPCA of Texas will cover.

Meet Orson!

Meet Orson! He is a wonderful Pittie mix looking for a forever home while he is currently in foster care. He is 5 year old, weighs 62 pounds, and is covered by an even coat of brown fur with a white underside. Orson is a smart dog and has been extremely helpful in play groups by getting some of the more scared dogs to calm down. He’s a great candidate for a second pet, so bring any current dogs to meet him before adopting. As large and energetic as Orson is, it is recommended he go to a home where all the kiddos are at least 15 years old. Since he is in foster care, an appointment is necessary to meet him in person.

Meet Bradley Boo!

Meet Bradley Boo! He is quite happy to go by just “Bradley” by the way. Bradley is an 11-year-old, 15-pound Domestic Shorthair mix hoping to be in a forever home soon. He has white fur with large black-and-gray patches and large yellow cat eyes full of lots of feline wisdom gathered over the years. He is a little timid at first meeting, but becomes affable enough after proper introductions are made. Bradley does very well with other cats and would love a roommate. Children can be a lot, so Bradley would prefer to go to a home where all the children were at least 12 years old. He is at the Jan Rees-Jones Animal Care Center.

KRLD values the connection between animals and people. Through the incredible selflessness of animal advocates who rescue, rehabilitate, foster and adopt animals, we hope to be partners in finding safe and forever homes for these animals in need.

Regular adoption fees are $150 for puppies and kittens aged 0-6 months and $75 for adult dogs and cats aged 6 months or older. Fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older and a FIV/FeLV test for cats 4 months and older, initial flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of PetHealth Insurance provided by PetHealth, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a rabies tag and a free leash.
