In partnership with the SPCA of Texas, NewsRadio 1080 KRLD brings you 'Adoptable Pet Pals,' a weekly feature to introduce you to animals that are ready for adoption.

KRLD's Kristin Diaz along with Maura Davies from the SPCA highlights the critical need for adopting families at local animal shelters by showcasing an "Adoptable Pet Pal" that has stayed at the shelter too long.

Meet Brisket, the 8-month-old bundle of joy! This lively, mixed-breed pup is bursting with charm and playfulness. Looking for a new home, Brisket is an expert in wagging tails and making hearts melt. With a treat in hand, he'll master any trick you throw his way. Ready for fun-filled walks, even jogs, he's the perfect active companion. Plus, toys are his obsession! Brisket may still be a puppy, but he's past the baby stage and ready to embark on exciting adventures with you. Don't wait any longer—Brisket can't wait to meet you! You can meet Brisket any day between noon and 6 p.m. at the SPCA of Texas' Dallas Animal Care Center located at 2400 Lone Star Dr.

Meet Red!

Sweet Red is 59 pounds of energy! At five years and three months old, this guy’s ready to settle down in his loving forever home. If you love to play and cuddle, Red’s the one for you! This Australian Cattle Dog mix has flecks of red throughout his white coat, with a little extra red around his beautiful eyes and on his terminally wagging tail. With his striking brown eyes, sharp facial features, and pointed ears Red appears to be standing at attention but offer him a treat or two and he’s happy as a clam! Wiggling and jumping—so glad to have your pets and words of encouragement. Although Red loves to play, he would prefer to be the only dog—or cat for that matter—in the home.

Meet Bella!

Although Bella had a rough start in life, this beautiful, mixed-breed, eight-year-old lady is all class. Her shiny, mostly black coat with white markings—including four socks and the tip of her tail—make this 48-pound pup remarkably lovely. Never mind her flopping ears and those piercing brown eyes! Bella will have you at “Hello!” Bella is great with kids of all ages and loves all the people she’s met at the SPCA of Texas. She enjoys long walks and does really well on a leash. Bella is a great listener and such good company! She will be the only dog in her forever home because other dogs make her nervous.

Meet Zeke!

Today’s SPCA of Texas dog is Zeke. He is a 7-year-old Pittie mix looking for a forever home at the SPCA of Texas. Zeke weighs 72 pounds, so he’s a bigger guy. He has a black coat except for a little bit of white on his underside and snoot. He’s lovable as can be and has the friendliest grin on his face when he’s having a good time. Fun is something this dog is willing to invest a lot of time into. He is a first rate bum-wiggler and has the happiest prance imaginable when you get him out into the play yard. Zeke also likes to chill out on couches and catch the latest TV shows. He gets along well with other dogs and seems to be a good fit for kids too, so bring the whole family down to the shelter to meet him.

Remember that in July, adult dogs and cats can be adopted for only a $25 adoption fee. Fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older and a FIV/FeLV test for cats 4 months and older, initial flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of MetLife Insurance, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a rabies tag and a free leash.

The SPCA of Texas Dallas Animal Care Center is open to visitors seven days a week from 12-6 p.m. Appointments are available for select foster animals. Please browse available animals at spca.org/findapet and visit spca.org/dogadopt to inquire about a dog or spca.org/catadopt to inquire about a cat.
