In partnership with the SPCA of Texas, NewsRadio 1080 KRLD brings you 'Adoptable Pet Pals,' a weekly feature to introduce you to animals that are ready for adoption.

KRLD's Kristin Diaz along with Maura Davies from the SPCA highlights the critical need for adopting families at local animal shelters by showcasing an "Adoptable Pet Pal" that has stayed at the shelter too long.

Rixton is a 2-year-old shepherd mix looking for a forever family! He’s a very sweet guy and loves to meet new people and make friends anywhere he goes. He’s really not picky when it comes to his home, just somewhere warm and cozy where he can get lots of love! He will need to meet any other dogs he will be going home with just to make sure they get along and hit it off before going home together! If you are interested in meeting Rixton, come on in. The SPCA of Texas is open noon-6pm every day. That’s at 2400 Lone Star Drive in Dallas. Learn more about him here: https://spca.org/adoptable/rixton/.

Meet Cami! She is a beautiful 2-year-old Labrador Retriever mix hoping to find a forever family with the help of the SPCA of Texas. She has a black coat with some white underneath and little white socks too. Cami is still a little bit on the shy side, so it might take some time for her to warm up to new people. However, once she does she is reported to have a very sweet disposition. She is not too particular about the kind of home she goes to, as long as there is a lot of love there. She came to the SPCA of Texas as a stray, and she is currently housed at the SPCA of Texas Ellis County Animal Care Center.

Meet Creed! He is a Terrier, Pit Bull mix who is very anxious to find his forever family and get down to some serious play time. Creed weighs 59 pounds and is 2-and-a-half years old. He has a white coat with some sparse patches. He also has reportedly one of the goofiest grins of all the dogs in the shelter. Creed is a high-energy dog who can crank out the zoomies at a volume discount. He matches that with a very friendly nature that makes him a great choice for a family pet. He gets along well with other dogs and kids too. He is at the Russell E. Dealey Animal Rescue Center so an appointment is required to meet him.

Meet Squishy!

Meet Squishy! He has no idea why he got that name, but he doesn’t mind. Squishy is a Terrier, Pit Bull mix who weighs 53 pounds and is 2-and-a-half years old. He has a magnificent brown/brindle coat. He is a very majestic example of his breed, but it totally hasn’t gone to his head. He is one of the chilliest dogs in the shelter and is nothing but nice to everyone. He is super playful and friendly with the other dogs in the play yard and does well with little humans too. Squishy is currently housed at the SPCA of Texas Dallas Animal Care Center, so no appointment is necessary to meet him.

Meet Spice!

Meet Spice! She is a wonderful cat, but she has had a bit of a rough road and needs an experienced cat person to take her in and let her grow into her new digs. She has had a foster period and her foster reported she had been perfect. Spice came to the SPCA of Texas as a stray with nursing kittens. The little ones are all off and safe in new forever homes and Spice is hoping there is a home out there for her too. She would do best in a home with no children under the age of 15. She is currently residing in the cat rotunda at the SPCA of Texas Dallas Animal Care Center so no appointment is necessary to meet her.

KRLD values the connection between animals and people. Through the incredible selflessness of animal advocates who rescue, rehabilitate, foster, and adopt animals, we hope to be partners in finding safe and forever homes for these animals in need.

Regular adoption fees are $150 for puppies and kittens aged 0-6 months and $75 for adult dogs and cats aged 6 months or older. Fee includes spay/neuter surgery, age-appropriate vaccinations, a heartworm test for dogs six months and older and a FIV/FeLV test for cats 4 months and older, initial flea/tick preventative and heartworm preventative, a microchip, 30 days of PetHealth Insurance provided by PetHealth, a free 14-day wellness exam with VCA Animal Hospitals, a rabies tag and a free leash.
