In partnership with the SPCA of Texas, NewsRadio 1080 KRLD brings you 'Adoptable Pet Pals,' a weekly feature to introduce you to animals that are ready for adoption.
KRLD's Kristin Diaz along with Maura Davies from the SPCA highlights the critical need for adopting families at local animal shelters by showcasing an "Adoptable Pet Pal" that has stayed at the shelter too long.
Meet this week's featured Pet Pals, Timmy and Alastor!
Timmy is a stunning Siamese mix and Alastor Moody is a handsome domestic medium hair, and they are both two years old. What’s even better? They’re both looking for the purr-fect home…together! Before these two BFFs met, they both started off as very scared and spicy cats who didn't know how to interact or trust people and they just weren't sure if they would ever be able to live in a home environment...that is until their friends at the SPCA of Texas decided to see if two spicy cats could befriend each other. Come to find out, Timmy ended up being Alastor Moody’s other half and they have both learned to trust people and realize that as long as they have each other, the world isn't so scary after all! They are looking for a home with experienced cat owners that will understand that transitioning into a new environment isn't easy, and that they will need time and space in a calm environment to adjust in! Kids? No thank you! They are pretty particular cats who will do best in a home with older teens and adults only. You can meet Timmy and Alastor Moody any day between noon and 6 p.m. at the SPCA of Texas' Dallas Animal Care Center located at 2400 Lone Star Dr. Come meet this dynamic duo today!
Meet Molly!

Molly is a versatile 5-year-old female mixed breed dog who enjoys both outdoor playtime and cuddling on the couch. She loves exploring and sniffing outside, as well as indulging in treats and playing with toys. Molly is also highly intelligent and enjoys learning new things. She has already mastered commands like "sit" and is well-behaved during car rides. Additionally, she is both crate trained and house/potty trained. For housing, Molly prefers a home with a yard where she can exercise, but she can adapt to apartment living as well. Molly is sociable with other dogs and enjoys playing with them. It is recommended to bring your own dog to meet her. While Molly would appreciate meeting younger kids (under 10) before being adopted, she has previously lived in a home with children as young as 2 months old. She is at the SPCA of Texas’ Dallas Animal Care Center so no appointment is necessary to meet her. https://spca.org/adoptable/molly/
Meet Leo!

Leo is an affectionate and playful 3-year-old male mixed breed. He is a big dog who adores the company of both dogs and the people closest to him. Leo and his sister went through a challenging situation before arriving at the SPCA of Texas, but now he's ready to find his forever home. If you're seeking a sweet and silly companion overflowing with love, Leo is the one to ask for. He eagerly anticipates meeting you! When it comes to interacting with other dogs, Leo can be a bit overwhelming for some. However, the shelter staff can facilitate introductions with potential canine siblings before finalizing the adoption. For prospective families with children, Leo would prefer kids aged 5 or older. He is housed at the Dallas Animal Care Center so no appointment is necessary to meet him. https://spca.org/adoptable/leo/
Meet Elvira!

This is Elvira! She is a 4-year-old female Lab mix who is just the perfect age. She is somewhere in between the stage of puppy zoomies and senior sleepies. She came to the SPCA of Texas as a stray so her past is a mystery, but now she’s on to bigger and better things. She is a friendly, outgoing, and curious pup with lots of energy! She is also strong and sometimes a little jumpy, but tries OH SO HARD to mind her manners. She has spent time with staff in their office and enjoyed entertaining herself with a treat dispensing toy, looking out the window, and sniffing every inch of the space! She loves treats, but her favorite snack is cheese whiz. She knows sit and shake and although she would be good with human kiddos, she prefers to be the only canine in her new home. She is at the SPCA of Texas’ Dallas Animal Care Center so no appointment is necessary to meet her. https://spca.org/adoptable/elvira/
Meet Santos!

Meet Santos! This handsome fella is a 3-year-old Shepherd mix who weighs just over 65 pounds. His eyes attract a lot of attention due to their different colors. He can be a bit shy when he first meets people, but with some time, treats, and the company of a furry companion, his true personality begins to emerge, as affirmed by his close friends who describe him as sweet and well-behaved. Ideally, his dream home would feature a spacious yard, although he is open to exploring apartment living as long as it isn't too bustling. While he is accustomed to walking on a leash, he becomes nervous when confronted with a constant stream of people, dogs, or cars. Therefore, he seeks a peaceful and tranquil environment where he can acclimate to his new surroundings. Finding a family that possesses patience is of utmost importance to him. In terms of interacting with children, he has had limited exposure to these small humans. As a result, he believes he would thrive in a household where all members are 12 years of age or older. He does well with other dogs in the shelter, but it is always a good idea to bring any current canine companions to the shelter for a meet and greet before adopting. He is housed at the Dallas Animal Care Center so no appointment is necessary to meet him. https://spca.org/adoptable/santos/
