The Euless-based Association of Professional Flight Attendants says the no-fly list would protect flight attendants from the small number of people who threaten to hurt crews and fellow passengers.

The organization says in the past week, there have been two incidents in which passengers have acted out to the extent that the flights had to be diverted to make an emergency landing.

"Flight Attendants continue to face physical and verbal abuse, and we cannot sit by and allow these offenders to commit these dangerous acts from airline to airline," Julie Hedrick, APFA national president said. "This behavior must stop. We need the added accountability of a federal 'no-fly" list to protect all crewmembers and passengers across the industry."

Eight senators, including Ted Cruz, sent a letter to Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg expressing their opposition to a possible federal no-fly list for unruly passengers.
