ARLINGTON (1080 KRLD) - An argument between two customers at an Arlington convenience store turned deadly overnight.
It happened right after midnight at the Valero store on E. Abram St. at 360.
"It appears a man went into the store, tried to buy some alcohol, (but) he didn't have his ID," says Deputy Police Chief Christopher Cook. "And so he got upset with the clerk (and) started throwing some stuff around."
Some of those objects nearly hit a 33-year-old customer inside the store.
"The customer said something to him based upon almost getting hit with an object," says Cook, "so they kind of had a verbal disagreement inside, which spilled out into the parking lot."
And the argument escalated from there.
"For an unknown reason, the victim walked to his car and retrieved a gun and began walking back towards the suspect (who) was in his vehicle," says Cook. "And as the victim got close, the suspect also had a gun and shot the victim multiple times and killing him."
The Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office has yet to release the identity of the victim.
The shooter is identified as Brandon Harris, 29.
"The suspect left the scene," Cook says; "however, he called 911 as soon as he got to his house to report that he acted in self-defense."
Harris has not been charged in this incident, pending a grand jury review; but he was arrested for outstanding warrants.
