The suspect wanted in a deadly shooting outside the Hurricane Harbor water park Wednesday evening in Arlington has been captured.
According to officials, Arlington Police along with detectives assigned to the United States Marshals Service North Texas Fugitive Task Force, arrested 18-year old Cameron Lavon Stephens without incident overnight.
Stephens was apprehended in the 2700 block of Harverwood Lane near the Dallas North Tollway at a convenience store in North Dallas. He was transported to the Arlington Jail where he remains charged with one count of Murder.
Stephens is accused of shooting a 16-year-old boy following an argument outside the water park.
"The suspect yelled over to him and asked if they had beef with somebody. They said no, however, he continued to walk towards their car and that's when a physical fight erupted," Arlington Deputy Chief Chris Cook says. "When he started running to his car, they thought that he might … get a gun, so they all started running away. That's when our victim was shot."
“We are grateful for the quick actions of our detectives based upon information provided by our community to arrest the person responsible for this incident,” said Al Jones, Chief of Police.
