Bond has been set at $2 million for 30-year old Nestor Hernandez, the Carrollton man accused of killing two women at Methodist Dallas Medical Center.

Hernandez made his first court appearance last night after he was released from the hospital. He was wounded by a police officer seconds after a social worker and a nurse were killed Saturday morning.

Hernandez has already signed legal papers saying he doesn't have enough money to afford an attorney.

Hernandez had been behind bars as recently as June when Carrollton police arrested him outside an apartment complex. Reports say he was arrested due to an outstanding warrant.

Police reports say when he was put in the back of the Carrollton police patrol car, he slammed his head against the door making a dent. In a statement after the hospital murders, Carrollton police say they were devastated that he didn't stay behind bars where he clearly belonged.

Hernandez was out on bail at the time of the hospital shooting.

The ATF is now investigating how Hernandez was able to obtain a firearm as both a felon and parolee.
