Carter BloodCare is in Arlington, holding its annual summer blood donation drive at Globe Life Field.
“We do this during the summer, because traditionally, we do see a lull in the summertime in blood donations,” says Victoria Liguez with Carter BloodCare.
Coming out of the pandemic, the need is especially high this year.
“We are seeing a 30-year low in the blood supply right now,” says Liguez.
That’s why Ron came today to donate blood.
“I know they’ve been in need for the last year, with COVID and everything,” Ron says.
The blood drive runs through Saturday, and those who give blood will get some swag.
“You get a voucher for a pair of tickets to see a Texas Rangers game,” says Liguez, “and we have some vintage hats.”

While appointments are strongly recommended, they are not mandatory.
“It goes faster if you have an appointment, but we will take people walking up,” says Liguez.
