Dallas Animal Services continues to try to capture the coyote that mauled a toddler on Tuesday. But neighbors say the city's explanation for the attack is ridiculous.
DAS says the coyote was routinely fed and even petted by residents in the area, which may have led to the attack that sent a 2-year-old to the hospital.
Neighbors, however, flooded DAS' Facebook page claiming that the explanation was absurd and that no one in the area had been feeding the animal.
One of those was Paige Sidhom, who says the city hasn't been responding to numerous calls for months about aggressive coyotes and says blaming the residents has quite a few people upset.
"Especially those who have been following the coyote for several weeks and know about the calls that have been made, we are just outraged," Sidhom said. "The idea that we were petting a mangy coyote, that's absolutely absurd."
The boy was in surgery for four hours to clean the wounds to his head and neck. He is said to be in stable condition and recovering in the hospital.
