DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- Police are releasing more information on a shooting that caused an explosion at a south Dallas apartment complex.
On September 28, police say Phillip Dankins fired into a Highland Hills apartment unit where his pregnant girlfriend had been earlier that night, with their 8 month old son.
The shot ruptured a hose behind a stove and caused a gas leak. That hose leaked gas for hours, until firefighters came to investigate the smell of gas, the next morning.
That's when the explosion occurred.
4 firefighters were transported to the hospital. Two remain there today.
Dankins has been in the Dallas County jail since early October on other charges. He was connected with the blast when bullets from a Ruger 380 handgun found in his possession, matched those found at the crime scene.
Dankins faces seven counts of deadly conduct and federal charges.
