The Dallas Zoo will bring in some outside experts to review security after a series of incidents that included the theft of two tamarin monkeys. Those monkeys were later recovered and 24-year-old Davion Irvin is facing several criminal charges in the case.
"We're determined to do everything we can to make sure this doesn't happen again," said Dallas Zoo President Gregg Hudson. "The security that we had...had worked for a long time. It had been upgraded over the past 12 years. Obviously, this is an unprecedented level of things we're going to have to do...but we're up to the challenge."
Hudson said the review would cover all aspects of the zoo's security and would involve some of top experts.
"We're bringing in the best in the field that we can," he said," to help us think through not only the operational parts of it but the technology...and all the things that could help us manage this type of situation."
