Officers arrested a 24-year-old man Thursday night in connection to the two emperor tamarin monkeys that went missing from the Dallas Zoo on Monday, police say.
Davion Irvin, 24, faces six charges of animal cruelty in connection to the tamarin monkeys, and two charges of burglary, for tampering with habitats of a clouded leopard and langur monkeys, Dallas police said.
Police said they received a tip that Irvin was spotted at the Dallas World Aquarium, and they arrested him nearby.
Irvin was being held Friday on $25,000 bond.
Police said they have not linked Irvin to the death of an endangered lappet-faced vulture. The investigation into the vulture's death is still under investigation.
Gregg Hudson, the president and CEO of Dallas Zoo, said the clouded leopard was reintroduced to her habitat, while the emperor tamarin monkeys were in medical quarantine because they could have been exposed to other animals while outside of the zoo's enclosures.
