The Dallas Zoo will be open today after storm damage forced it to shut down on Monday. None of the animal habitats were damaged during severe weather that moved through Dallas on Sunday, but the zoo did have several downed trees and a lot of storm debris.

The zoo closed on Labor Day to give crews time to clean up the debris and make repairs. Most of that work is done so the zoo will be open on Tuesday. Some areas where repairs are still in progress will be blocked off. The schedule for the zoo's Wild Encounters stage will also be affected.

Officials with the Dallas Zoo say "we’re thankful it was mainly tree damage and that everyone (including the animals) stayed safe".
