The Delta variant has been showing up in nursing homes and other senior living centers this July.
The CDC says the increase in cases is directly blamed on nursing home staff that haven't been vaccinated against COVID-19.
Around the country, only 59% of nursing home staff members are fully vaccinated. In Texas, it's less than 53% of staff with full vaccinations.
81% of senior residents have had both shots across the country.
Johns Hopkins medical researchers say seniors may have a harder time with the Delta variant, even if they're fully vaccinated.
