A Denton man has been indicted for the murder of his roommate near the UNT campus.
Police say 31-year-old Davontay Dashield killed 43-year-old Cory Johnson then paid visits to both the crime scene and the hospital where Johnson died.
The shooting happened in January at an apartment complex at 1003 Eagle Drive, not far from the University of North Texas campus where Johnson worked.
Witnesses heard shots and called police when the shooting happened. Officers say Johnson was alive when they arrived but died a short while later.
Police say Dashield, who had at one time stayed in the apartment, returned to the apartment complex while police were there then went to the hospital where Johnson was taken by EMT workers.
Police say they built their case around witness interviews, and physical and digital evicence. Dashield was arrested in April.
