A doctor who was the subject of an investigation into problems with IV bags at a north Texas hospital has been arrested. Dallas Police say Dr. Raynaldo Ortiz was arrested.
Ortiz had his medical license suspended last week by the Texas Medical Board. They held a hearing after learning from a federal law enforcement agency that he was the subject of an investigation.
Records from the Texas Medical Board show one person died after taking home an IV bag from Baylor Scott and White Surgicare - North Dallas. The Dallas County Medical Examiner blamed that person's death on a toxic chemical found inside the bag that should not have been there.
Lab tests showed the bag had been affected by tampering. Investigators also found problems in an IV bag given to another person who had a serious reaction.
Investigators told the Board that Dr. Ortiz was seen on surveillance video handling the bags shortly before patients had adverse reactions.
