The eagles, affectionately called Nick and Nora, have taken over an old hawk’s nest near their old home, according to reports. The pair was uprooted when the wind broke the tree branch their original nest was on, sending it plummeting to the ground. At least one egg was destroyed.

Urban Biologist Brett Johnson says at that point, wildlife officials expected the eagles to leave.

"Frankly, myself and [other biologists] have kind of given up on trying to guess what these two eagles are going to do" said Johnson.

Johnson says people shouldn’t get their hopes up just yet about the new nest. It took Nick and Nora nearly four months to build up their old nest, they’ve only been working on this one for two weeks.

"Structurally this nest isn't particularly good either," Johnson says. On top of that, it’s even higher than the last nest was. On the bright side, it's in a stronger tree.

Johnson says officials still don’t know if Dallas will really become home to the eagles, but they’re glad the two seem to be sticking around for now.
