One home was demolished in a fire in East Dallas about a mile from White Rock Lake early Friday morning, authorities say.
The explosion happened just after 1 a.m. at a home on San Leandro Drive near Lakeland Drive. When fire crews got there, the house was burning furiously and it's considered a total loss.
The homeowners were not home, so the home was empty when the fire broke out. A neighboring home also sustained pretty heavy damage. One person was home there but was not hurt.
Investigators say it was the result of a gas explosion inside the front area of the home. Because the house had to be torn down, investigators will not be able to figure out what caused the gas leak.
