A SWAT situation in East Dallas last night ended with a man taking his own life.

Police were called to the motel off I-30 and Dolphin on a welfare check. The man wouldn't come out and police negotiated with him for about five hours before they heard a gunshot and found the man dead.
Police have released no other details.
