A former preschool teacher from Dallas’ Hockaday School pleaded guilty yesterday to purchasing sexually explicit images of children.

Federal prosecutors say 29-year-old Jason Sherod Baldwin was charged via criminal complaint in July 2020 and indicted less than a month later. He pleaded guilty Tuesday to one count of receipt of child pornography.

The least Baldwin can get is five years in federal prison for the crime, or he could get up to 20-years when he is sentenced.

Court record show Baldwin admitted he had been viewing child porngraphy for eight years and had hundreds of sexually explicity images on his cell phone. Most were of pre-teen boys in explicit videos.

The FBI caught Baldwin as part of an investigation in Philadelphia when they nabbed a sex offender. That guy had been doing business with Baldwin over the teenage messaging app Kik.

A sentencing date has not been set.

The FBI's Dallas Field Office conducted the investigation with the assistance of the Bureau’s Philadelphia Field Office. Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicole Dana prosecuted the case.
