The city attorney and chief prosecutor for the City of Forney is in jail in Rockwall County after being charged with driving while intoxicated.
Reports say Jennifer Barnes Smith is sitting in the Rockwall City Jail awaiting a bond hearing after she was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
The Rockwall County Sheriff's office says Smith was arrested Wednesday night near FM 1139 and Harvest Ridge Road.
Court records show Smith was also arrested for public intoxication in the town of Fate just a few months ago. She was released on a personal recognizance bond. That case was later dismissed after Smith completed an alcohol diversion program.
Forney Mayor Jason Roberson, who was just sworn into office last night, says he and the rest of the council will "come together and make a decision how to move forward."
