A Fort Worth Police Detective has been arrested and charged with burglary, according to officials.

On July 8, 2022, police responded to a Burglary in Progress call for service after citizens reported that an individual had forced his way into a residence with a gun.

During the investigation, officers learned that Detective Bryan Lafaurie, who was off-duty, had entered the residence to confront teenagers he suspected of stealing his personal property earlier in the day.

The Fort Worth Police Department immediately began administrative and criminal investigations into these allegations.

Detective Lafaurie was placed on restricted duty and stripped of all police powers during the course of the ongoing criminal and administrative investigations.

On July 12, 2022, the FWPD Special Investigations Unit obtained an arrest warrant for Lafaurie for the offense of Burglary and Lafaurie has subsequently turned himself in to the Tarrant County Jail.

This case will be filed with the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office.

Lafaurie's attorney, Robert Huseman, released a statement, saying that he's a devoted father who has served his community for years, urging the public not to rush to judgment.
