Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra (GDYO) is looking for North Texas' next batch of talented young musicians.
GDYO is one of the leading youth orchestras in the country, celebrating 50 years in North Texas, impacting the lives of more than 10,000 North Texas youth musicians since its founding in 1972.
"I actually was one of the kids that was impacted by our programming," Cathy Hernandez, GDYO Executive Director, who was in the GDYO in the late '80s said. "I'm a walking testimony of the impact we have on kids."
GDYO has grown from a single orchestra of 35 members to a program of over 450 talented musicians, ages 8 to 18, performing in nine ensembles and socializing with a diverse group of highly talented peers from more than 50 communities.
Virtual auditions are now being accepted for the 2022-2023 season.
"Even the audition process can be very helpful to youngsters," Hernandez said. "It really shows the value of hard work and commitment."
Musicians accepted to GDYO will be notified during Summer 2022, and rehearsals for the upcoming season begin at the end of August 2022.
GDYO also offers an extensive scholarship program, as around 20 percent of GDYO musicians receive scholarships, based on need.
