Health officials in Dallas County are worried about the impact the Omicron variant could have in the next few weeks.
Dallas County Health Director Dr. Philip Huang says it's more transmissible which could result in more hospitalizations.
He's also worried about the impact the new variant could have on health care workers which would also put a strain on local resources. He says about 55 percent of the population in Dallas County is considered to be fully vaccinated, but a much smaller percentage has received the third booster shot.
