The Irving police department took to Twitter on Monday afternoon to dispel rumors of escaped convicts in the area.
The posts state that the purpose of their Tweets were to act as "rumor control" after a large police perimeter was set up in the region of Hunter Ferrel and MacArthur.
Police say that while the perimeter's purpose was to contain three males, they were not convicts. Rather, the three had run from an officer in a wooded area.
They go on to say that there were no gunshots involved, and one of the men has since been taken into custody for misdemeanor evading on foot. The others were not found, but the police do not believe they pose a threat to members of the public at this moment in time.
