A Dallas County State District Court judge has granted an injunction against Texas Governor Greg Abbott in the fight over who has the authority over mask mandates - specifically in Dallas County.
Judge Tonya Parker has granted Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins' request for an injunction that blocks the Governor from taking action against the county over mask requirements.
The Governor has tried to block local governments from implementing mask requirements, saying Texas residents and parents have that choice.
But in her ruling, Judge Parker found that the residents will suffer irreparable harm if Jenkins is not allowed to declare a public emergency.
The judge relied on testimony during a hearing, which included a mother whose 7-year old daughter has a rare disease.
