Jury seletion gets started today in the murder trial of an Irving woman charged with killing her two kids.
The way the murders happened left residents of the city of Irving stunned. 32-year-old Madison McDonald is accused of smothering her 6-year-old daughter Archer Hammond and her 1-year-old Lillian Mae McDonald in their Valley Ranch home.
Police say after the children were dead, McDonald went to the Irving police department and used a lobby phone to call 911.
Friends of McDonald say she had recently been divorced when the murders happened and that she was struggling with mental issues.
Police reports say McDonald told them the girls were 'being abused' and she didn't want them to suffer, so she sedated the two then smothered them.
Irving Police Officer Robert Reeves said police had been out to the McDonald's home before, but would not elaborate on what those calls entailed.
Testimony is expected to begin tomorrow.
