DALLAS (1080 KRLD)- Dallas Mavericks guard Luka Doncic is gearing up for tonight’s season opener at Atlanta, but this week he also found time to arrange a special surprise for 80 patients who are admitted at Children’s Health in Dallas and Plano.

To protect the health and safety of the patients receiving care at Children’s Health, Luka arranged for Children’s Health team members to hand-deliver a bag of goodies – a pair of Jordan sneakers; Jordan drawstring bag, hoodie and socks; a letter from Luka; and a signed photo – plus individual pizzas and cookies decorated with the number 77.
"What was so incredible was that the shoes were as unique as each child," said Melinda Goff, Child Life Team Leader at Children’s Health. "We (found out) what size shoe they wore, and what color combos they like so it was just so personal and so incredibly inspiring to the kids."
It's a pick-me-up for children fighting life-threatening diseases.
"Somebody may be in a hospital for three nights...or somebody may be in a hospital for months at a time," Goff said. "To have...a surprise that brings so much joy to them...and then to get a special note from Luka...it was really inspiring."
"It was a joyful moment to know that someone was thinking of them and was on their side."
