Fort Worth police have arrested the mother of an infant who died after being ejected in a crash earlier this month.

Authorities say 17-year-old Karla Lopez is charged with reckless injury to a child resulting in serious bodily injury.

Police identified the child as 6-month-old Sebastian Reyes.

Investigators say the crash happened March 7 at the intersection of Rock Island Street and Azle Avenue. According to police, the driver of the vehicle ran a stop sign and collided with another car.

Officers say the infant was not properly restrained and was ejected from the vehicle on impact, suffering critical injuries. The child later died at a hospital.

Lopez was also injured in the crash. After being treated for non-life-threatening injuries, she was taken into custody and booked into jail.
