A North Texas father who was charged in connection with the shooting death of his 3-year-old last year gets three months in jail after agreeing to a plea deal.

According to court records, 28-year old Jalexus Washington Senior has been sentenced to 90 days of jail time for a disorderly conduct charge.

He had faced a felony charge of tampering with evidence in March 2022 shooting death of Jalexus Washington Junior.

Reports say the child was in the back seat of the family car when he was killed by a gunshot. At first, the boy's mother, Lacravivon Washington, claimed the shooting was part of a road rage and had come from the outside of the car.

Police would later dispute that and say the shot came from close range, and that there was a gun in the car, which endangered all the children.

Lacravivonne Washington is still awaiting trial and facing multiple charges, including abandoning or endangering a child through criminal negligence.
