A man faces a charge of tampering with evidence in connection to his 3-year-old son's shooting death, police say.

The boy's mother, Lacravivonne Washington, faces multiple charges, including abandoning or endangering a child through criminal negligence. On Wednesday, Jalexus Washington Sr. was charged with tampering with evidence in connection to the shooting.

Last month, 3-year-old Jalexus Washington Jr. died from a gunshot wound to the head. Washington Sr. was earlier arrested on unrelated charges.

The newest charge "charge stems from the concealment of a firearm" in the death of Washington Jr., Dallas police said.

Washington was booked into the Dallas County jail last night just before 9 p.m.
