
(Dallas, TX) -- As the nation observes this Memorial Day, honoring our war dead, many North Texas communities are gathering in somber contemplation of the sacrifices made for our freedom
In Dallas today, DFW National Cemetery hosts the annual ceremony at 11 a.m. Parking will be at the nearby Potter’s House church with regular shuttle buses before and afterward. Bottled water will be provided and guests are welcome to bring their own lawn chairs

Over the weekend, volunteers set out thousands of American flags on the graves covering more than 150 acres that have been used out of the cemetery's 600 total acres. The American Red Cross was joined by Scout troops, churches, veterans organizations and other civic groups
In Fort Worth, the 93rd annual service will be at 10 a.m. at Mount Olivet Cemetery. Tarrant County Judge Glen Whitley and Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker will speak before the keynote address by Captain Mark McLean, commander of Naval Air Station Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth
Trophy Club hosts its ceremony at Medlin Cemetery beginning at 10 a.m.
In Frisco, ceremonies begin at 9 a.m. at Frisco Commons Park including flag and wreath-laying
Carry The Load continues at Dallas Reverchon Park through 1:30 p.m. today. The 24-plus-hour march pays homage to veterans and military families.
In Colleyville, beginning at 10 a.m. Dignity Memorial presents a traditional program at Bluebonnet Hills Memorial Park on Colleyville Boulevard
Duncanville’s observances are at Memorial Park at 10 a.m. Colonel John Diggs of the Texas State Guard will deliver the keynote address.

Grand Prairie’s ceremonies are at the Veterans Memorial starting at 10 a.m.
Mesquite’s Memorial Day Remembrance is this afternoon at 2:55 p.m. at the Mesquite Veterans Memorial. The National Moment of Remembrance will be observed at 3 p.m.
At Oakland Cemetery in South Dallas, the remembrances begin at 10 a.m. Flowers will be supplied to those who would like to lay them on a grave.
In Dallas, Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery’s Avenue of Flags will be decked by the Stars-and-Stripes. The program begins at 10 a.m.
And in Dallas, Memorial Day observances conclude this evening at Flag Pole Hill where the Dallas Symphony plays patriotic and favorite movie tunes beginning at 8:15 p.m.
