Meow Wolf is taking the country by storm - and starting next year, you will no longer have to trek to Santa Fe, Denver, or Las Vegas to experience it.
That's because Meow Wolf is opening a new location in Grapevine.
"Meow Wolf is an arts and entertainment production company that primarily produces large-scale, multimedia, interactive, immersive storytelling experiences," said Didi Bethurum, vice president of marketing at Meow Wolf. "We have a mission and an intention to really allow anyone to venture into the unknown, and explore spaces that are unexplored, and really spark imagination and really kind of empower all types of new perspectives to emerge."
Each of the three existing Meow Wolf installations has a different theme - the original in Santa Fe is the House of Eternal Return, Las Vegas' is Omega Mart, and Denver's is Convergence Station.
While Grapevine's theme has not yet been established, it's expected to have a Texas element to it.
"The rooms and the murals (and) the dioramas - we will be awarding to 50% of Texas-based artists," Bethurum said.
Artist selection is already underway; if you're interested in getting involved, visit the artist engagement page on Meow Wolf's website.
"We think this is going to drive a tremendous amount of growth to a really unique art experience in the City of Grapevine," said Larry Holt, director of economic development for the City of Grapevine. "I think for the young and the young at heart, this is going to be a wonderful unique experience within the DFW market, and we think it's going to attract some visitors well beyond."
Holt says Meow Wolf will draw hundreds of thousands of visitors to the city each year.
"These exhibits are attracting anywhere from 500,000 to a million people a year," Holt said.
The new Grapevine portal is expected to open sometime in 2023.
Then in 2024, another permanent installation will open in Houston.
Meow Wolf will soon start hiring positions for both locations; visit the careers page for more information.
