Midlothian police have a stark warning for parents whose kids have those very realistic looking Airsoft guns that fire plastic pellets about the size of a pea.

Midlothian Police say they've had multiple individuals being shot and struck by Airsoft rounds while in public places. Police are worried because those pellets are fired with enough muzzle velocity to be dangerous, especially if the target is struck in the eye.
Another danger is the chance that a targeted individual might be armed with a more deadly weapon. A police statement says, "some offenses associated with these incidents have risen to the level of a Class "A" assault.
Investigators believe the shooters are likely to be juveniles. Officers are warning parents if your child has an Airsoft gun, please make sure they are aware of the consequences and potential for the weapon being mistaken for an actual firearm.
