Several cases of the new COVID-19 Delta Plus variant been confirmed down in Houston, and it’s got health officials here in North Texas concerned as well.
Officials say if the new Delta Plus variant is in Houston, there’s a good chance it’s on its way to North Texas too, if it’s not already here.
Stephen Love with the DFW Hospital Council says even though there are no confirmed cases of the Delta Plus variant in North Texas yet, Health officials are definitely concerned about it, especially with kids going back to school in just a few weeks.
Over the past two weeks, Love says there has been a 70% increase in the number of COVID-19 hospitalizations in DFW.
Love says with a lot of people still unvaccinated and the COVID-19 variants out there, Health officials are concerned cases could start surging again this fall and winter.
