We're all paying more to stay cool during this extremely hot summer and Oncor is reaping the rewards, reporting millions of dollars in profit.

The electric utility's net revenue for the second quarter of 2022 was up by about $60 million, compared to the same period in 2021.

The company's CEO says one of the factors behind the increase is the higher demand for electricity this summer as the state deals with an ongoing heat wave.

He notes that there have been several new peak demand records set this summer and says Texas will need new generation and transmission facilities to keep up with the state's growing population.
