One of the principal men involved in the June 28, 2017 abduction of Lancaster teenager Shavon Randle has pleaded guilty in the case. 34-year-old Laquon Wilkerson of Dallas admitted guilt to a charge of engaging in organized criminal activity. He was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

The 13-year-old girl was walking in Lancaster when she became involved in a murderous plot to retaliate for a drug heist that involved a distant relative. Randle had nothing to do with the drugs or the robbery, police said.

The events that led up to the kidnapping began with a robbery of marijuana at a Motel 6 in DeSoto two days before.  The boyfriend of the cousin was involved in the robbery, a police report says.

An arrest affidavit says the cousin, Ledoris Randle, got a phone call from a man who said they had a victim who would be killed if the marijuana was not returned.  The victim was Shavon Randle.

A frantic search for the girl ended in an Oak Cliff trap house when the bodies of the girl and another man, Michael Titus, were found.

The investigation led police to Wilkerson, whose phone was placed near the scene of the abduction, the affidavit says.

Two have been convicted of federal charges for the drug robbery. One was convicted of engaging in organized criminal activity and sentenced to 99 years in prison. Two others are awaiting trial on charges of engaging in organized criminal activity.

Nobody was ever charged with Randle’s murder because police said they cannot prove who actually shot the girl.
