Police chase ends with three hour stand-off in Fort Worth

Fort Worth (1080 KRLD) - A report of a stolen motorcycle in Parker County led to a police chase Thursday that ended with a stand-off at a house about 15 miles away in Fort Worth.

A Parker County sheriff's deputy spotted a stolen motorcycle near Azle. That led to a chase into Lake Worth, Westworth Village and Fort Worth.

Residents of the Westover Hills neighborhood, east of the Joint Reserve Base, say they watched the case approach.

"I thought it was a funeral procession because he couldn't have been going more than 30 miles an hour when he passed me," one man said. "I saw the police lights. I couldn't even see the motorcycle, but I could see all the police lights."

Some stood in the yard of a neighboring house when the suspect barricaded himself inside.

One woman says she lives in the same house, saying the owner rents rooms to several people. She says she was in the backyard when the suspect arrived.

"They were asking me, 'did he run back here?'" she says. "I was like, 'No, I was back here.' They pulled me out of the house and some other people out of the house but not the guy they were looking for."

Several departments maintained a presence outside the house, closing down streets in the neighborhood. SWAT used flash bangs, drones and a loud speaker to order the suspect to surrender.

"He knows somebody, one of the roommates," the other tenant said. "I don't know the guy, but I don't want him in my house. How dare you?"

About three hours later, Lake Worth Police say the suspect surrendered.

Thursday afternoon, the Parker County Sheriff's Office had not released his name or charges he will face.
