As COVID-19 continues to spike throughout Texas, more help is on the way to treat patients.
The Texas Department of State Health Services and the Texas Department of Emergency Management are opening up new regional antibody infusion centers to treat COVID-19 patients.
Centers in Fort Worth and Laredo are opening Friday, while centers in Beaumont and Odessa will be opening by next week.
The infusion centers are equipped with Regeneron's monoclonal antibodies.
They will treat COVID-19 patients with therapeutic drugs that can prevent their condition from worsening.
The treatments are free of charge and require a doctor's referral.
State Health Services is also deploying about 2,700 medical personnel by the end of this week to help hospitals throughout the state treat COVID-19 patients, with that number growing to at least 5,500 by the end of next week.
