A Dallas IT technician did not have enough training before he accidentally deleted a massive number of police files last year, according to a report that will be presented next week to the Dallas City Council.

The report from Kirkland & Ellis says the worker had received training on a key piece of software only twice before he was tasked with transferring data from cloud storage to physical servers as a cost-cutting measure.

During the transfer, millions of archived police videos, case notes, photos, and audio files were lost. The technician lost his job but is, so far, the only person to be fired.
