With five homes damaged in Wednesday's early morning tornado in Rockwall, the homeowners are glad no one was hurt. But now they're wondering, where were the warning sirens?
According to reports, the warning sirens did not go off and the Rockwall County weather notification alert system says it did not get any tornado warning from the National Weather Service.
Weather Service meteorologist Jennifer Dunn acknowledges they missed this one and says a couple of factors could have been in play.
One reason given is the tornado developed very fast with little to no warning, and it may have happened in between radar scans.
She also says it could have developed at a moment when they they were looking elsewhere in what was a very long storm system.
Dunn says they will look for any possible changes that can prevent this from happening again.
