ARLINGTON, TX (1080 KRLD) - The student killed in a shooting outside Lamar High School has been identified through a GoFundMe created by his family.
Early Monday morning, a gunman opened fire outside Lamar High School in Arlington. In a statement following the shooting, Arlington Police Chief Al Jones confirmed that a male student died, and a female student was injured and taken to a local hospital.
A GoFundMe page created on Tuesday identified the victim as Jashawn Poirier.
"Jashawn was a friendly, quiet kid. He made friends easily and had quite a few of them who loved him. He enjoyed video games, football, sport outings and just hanging out with friends and family," wrote campaign organizer Na'Jai Jacob.
Jacob, the cousin of Jawshawn Poirier, is asking for donations on behalf of his mother Roshone Jacob as she copes with the loss of her son.
"This loss has taken a toll on our family and I know it hits hard for families that have been through this same situation. I pray for us all. Thank you for any donations you provide. They are greatly appreciated," Jacobs wrote.
A suspected gunman was arrested shortly after the shooting. Their identity was not released, however, as they are a juvenile.
