A Texas high school football player had to be escorted off the field by police after he attacked a referee Thursday night.
Edinburg High School senior defensive lineman Emmanuel Duron was ejected from the district play-in game against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo after being called for a personal foul and unsportsman-like conduct.
Duron can be seen on video running from the sideline and tackling the referee - shoving him to the ground.
The Monitor of McAllen reported the referee was evaluated for a concussion by medical personnel at the stadium.
Edinburg eneded up winning th game over Pharr-San Juan-Alamo 35-21 to advance to the playoffs.
Duron was the District 31-6A Defensive Player of the Year last season. He also is the Bobcats' kicker and punter and a star wrestler.
