The Texas Secretary of State's Office is requesting more paperwork from the four counties it has targeted for a forensic audit of the 2020 presidential election.

The office wants all documents that county election officials are required to maintain for 22 months following each election under both federal and state law. Their request goes to Dallas, Tarrant, Collin and Harris Counties.

Collin County supported Republican candidate, President Donald Trump, in the 2020 election. The other three counties supported the Democratic candidate and national election winner President Joe Biden.

The document request marks the second phase of the Texas Secretary of State's investigation. The report on the findings from phase one should be presented by the end of the month.

"To the extent that systemic reforms to our election processes are needed, we will report those to the Texas Legislature," said Secretary John Scott. "To the extent that any criminal activity may have occurred, we will refer any and all information to the Texas Attorney General's office for investigation."
