ATP Dallas Open
The Dallas Open will be held February 4 – 12 at the Styslinger/Altec Tennis Complex at SMU. Americans Taylor Fritz, Frances Tiafoe, and defending Dallas Open champion Reilly Opelka highlight some of the top players at the event. Also notable in this year’s field is former No. 1 American John Isner. The Dallas resident is currently ranked No. 42 in the world. Former U.S. Open finalist Madison Keys and former U.S. Open champion Sloane Stephens will go head-to-head in the Women’s Tennis Classic on Saturday, February 4, at 7:00 p.m. to kick off the 2023 event.

Black Cowboys: An American Story at African American Museum Dallas
With more than 50 artifacts, photographs, documents and films, the exhibition explores the lives and work of the numerous Black men, women and children – enslaved and free – who labored on the ranches of Texas and participated in cattle drives before the Civil War through the turn of the 20th century.
By revealing stories that have largely been untold, “Black Cowboys” offers insight into the legendary cowboy, a clearer picture of the Black West, and a more diverse portrait of the American West.

CHARLOTTE’S WEB at Casa Mañana
Join Charlotte and your favorite pig Wilbur as they explore life in the barnyard. Charlotte, who proves to be “a true friend and a good writer,” is determined to save Wilbur. She begins her campaign with the “miracle” of her web in which she writes, “Some pig.” It’s the beginning of a victorious campaign which ultimately ends with the now-safe Wilbur doing what is most important to Charlotte. This show is suitable for all audiences. The play is about 1.5 hours long including an intermission.

DSO: Beethoven’s “Pastoral”
Having just celebrated his 80th birthday, Maestro Edo de Waart brings gravitas and expertise to the podium at the DSO. The concert features Argentenian pianist, Ingrid Fliter, known for her interpretations of Chopin, in Chopin’s virtuosic and colorful second concerto.
Followed by the ever-popular Pastoral Symphony, which Beethoven said “is more expression than painting of feeling” – an expansive and expanding walk through the countryside abounding with sounds of nature, using the many colors of the orchestra to tell a pastoral story, complete with babbling brooks, bird calls, a turbulent storm and a merry gathering.
Prepare to experience nature and love through music during this concert.

Dinosaurs Live
Visitors to Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary in McKinney will be able to let their imagination run wild as they travel back in time along a half-mile nature trail with eleven life-size animatronic dinosaurs. During the 17th Annual Dinosaurs Live! Life-Size Animatronic Dinosaurs exhibit, these animatronic dinosaurs will move and roar, providing an experience sure to captivate visitors. This exhibit will also offer interesting facts about both herbivorous and carnivorous dinosaurs.
Children and the young at heart will also have the opportunity to play on stationary baby dinosaurs, a photo-op Tyrannosaurus rex and a photo op Pachyrhinosaurus. This year’s exhibit will also feature an outdoor hadrosaur fossil dig to inspire future paleontologists.

Junior Symphony Ball: Party With A Purpose
The Dallas Symphony Orchestra League (DSOL) is an organization of volunteers who support the Dallas Symphony Association through service, education and fundraising activities. DSOL hosts several events throughout the season including Youth Concerts, Fashion Notes, Debutante Presentation Ball, and Saturday’s Junior Symphony Ball. The JSB is where Dallas area high-school sophomores, juniors, and seniors from over 35 schools come together and celebrate an evening filled with live music, dancing, professionally staffed gaming tables, raffles, prizes, and refreshments. Last year the event raised $446,000. This is the 65th year of the event.
