Justice could finally be coming for the family of a west Fort Worth girl who was abducted and murdered nearly a half-century ago.
The trial of the man accused of abducting and murdering 17-year-old Carla Walker back in 1974 gets underway Thursday morning in Fort Worth.
Glen McCurley, who is now 78, was arrested in September of last year and is charged with capital murder.
McCurley has been in jail ever since, being held on $500,000 bond.
Walker was with her boyfriend in the parking lot of what was then the Ridglea Bowl in the early morning hours of February 17, 1974, when police say McCurley opened the car door, pistol-whipped the boyfriend, pulled Walker out and drove off with her.
Walker's body was found four days later.
Fort Worth Police say McCurley confessed to the crime during an interrogation just prior to his arrest.
Shortly after his arrest, KRLD got the one and only jailhouse interview with McCurley, during which time he appeared to confess to the crime once again.
Jury selection is scheduled to get underway at 8:30 Thursdasy morning.
Once a jury is selected and seated, opening statements will begin.
