The president of the University of North Texas has condemned the behavior of some students after police had to get involved in a political protest on campus last week.

The protest happened Wednesday night when Republican Jeff Younger, who is running in Texas' 63rd House District, was on campus giving a speech about outlawing sex reassignment procedures for kids. Videos show students screaming, banging on desks, and cussing Younger out. In some videos, Younger can be heard calling them commies and egging them on.
Police stepped in to escort Younger off campus, but protesters surrounded them as they tried to drive away. UNT President Neal Smatresk sent a campus-wide email saying the way students acted was not a good reflection of UNT’s standards.
