The Uvalde school board has approved a Fort Worth architect's schematic design for a new school to replace Robb Elementary, the scene of last year's mass murder.

Last night, Uvalde trustees signed on to the designs created by Fort Worth's Huckabee architecture which specializes in schools. Uvalde's Moving Forward Foundation is a non-profit in charge of the plans for the new school.

Last week, the group released renderings at a community meeting. The new images show the building will be twice as big as the original Robb Elementary and will be built adjacent to another elementary school about two miles from the former Robb campus.

The new school will be home to about 800 students in grades two through four, and will also pay tribute to the 21 victims through a tree sculpture with two large branches representing the two teachers who died and 19 smaller branches represent the children.
