While many of the countries biggest cities are struggling with violent crime increases, Dallas' numbers are going down.

Numbers show that more than two-thirds of the nation's most populous cities have seen a big increase in murders from last year. However, Dallas' numbers are heading in the opposite direction.

Today Major Paul Junger told the public safety committee, the city is benefiting from the Crime Reduction Plan. He says murders are way down with 28 fewer victims from last year.

Councilman Casey Thomas says part of the reason the plan is working is because Chief Eddie Garcia and the police department have been able to build trust with the community.
